Mallorca fish/jellyfish/octopus video ID?

New postby jackson_uk » February 8, 2010 - 4:21 pm

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone could ID the species in these short videos I have done. I took them in Sept 09 while Snorkelling on the East Coast of the Island at Cala D'or.

I'm particuarly interested in knowing the Jellyfish species. Sorry for the poor camera work, its not easy when snorkelling since you use your hands to get down low.

I think this was a Coronetfish

Heres the Jellyfish

And finally the Octopus

Any ideas at all?

I think the Jellyfish might be Mauve Stinger, Pelagia noctiluca.

Also I meant Cornetfish, no idea where I got coronetfish from lol.
According to fishbase.org, the only native species of Cornetfish found in Spanish waters is the Red Cornetfish which was documented off of Cadiz...really wish I could get a positive ID on it.
